Our vision
Our vision is to improve outcomes for patients accessing specialised adult eating disorder services.
Working in partnership across the Thames Valley, we will ensure all services deliver safe, effective and efficient patient care and represent the best value for money.
We will do this as close to a patient’s home, and with the least restrictions, as possible.

Our core aims
We work together with the aim of:
- Delivering excellent and innovative care services reaching positive outcomes for our patients.
- Sharing approaches, pathways, communications, resources and clinical expertise to benefit those with an eating disorder.
- Working with patients, families, carers and staff to share experiences and improve care.
- Delivering care as close to home and in the least restrictive settings possible.
- Reducing health inequalities by identifying and understanding them, and addressing the barriers to the service.
- Reinvesting any saving into eating disorder care pathways in and out of hospital.
Our awards for excellence in mental health
HOPE was first to implement a revolutionary new and compassionate treatment model for people suffering with extreme, life-threatening eating disorders.
Interventions mean that seven out of 10 patients have maintained a healthy weight compared to one in 20 via traditional treatments. Hospital readmissions have been cut to just 14% compared to a 60% rate previously.
The treatment model was developed collaboratively by a multi-disciplinary team, including patients, families, and carers. They looked at all aspects of care, from how the dining room works to patients creating their own treatment plans and effectively managing their own therapy.
This approach won us the 2022 national Excellence in Mental Health Award. It was supported by 13 MPs including all Oxfordshire’s MPs and former PM Theresa May.
We were previously the 2022 regional winner in the South-East and South-West NHS Parliamentary Awards.
