Cotswold House, Marlborough, one of our specialist adult eating disorder units, has been embracing the festive spirit with activities designed to bring joy and connection for patients during this special season.
From forest floors to ward wreaths
Patients recently enjoyed a gentle walk in Savernake Forest, right on our doorstep, to collect natural items for wreath making.
In keeping with the forest’s protected status, they thoughtfully chose only fallen foliage. Staff added to the finds with greenery gathered around the hospital site, and together, everyone took part in a creative wreath-making session on the ward.
Practicing the Christmas meal tradition
Another highlight was our annual practice Christmas meal, which helps patients prepare for festive gatherings at home. Decorations on the table included candles that had been hand painted by patients. We welcomed colleagues from the wider team, including our consultant psychiatrist, to share the occasion with us.
Thanks to the generosity of charity partner Zurich, patients received beautifully prepared gift bags, adding an extra touch of warmth to the celebration.
Whilst enjoying these fun, simple and seasonal activities, patients are supported with their own recovery, developing confidence, and a sense of community.
A big thank you to everyone who made these moments possible!
